Abi Clarke
In the past,
i.e. in the early 2020s comedians were expected to be performing for years in
the UK before being invited to a TV panel and then selling out arena shows.
However, that's not simple at present. Comedy is one form of art that can to
continue to be performed in front of a live audience. However, we'll not have
arena tours any time coming. However, one comedian from Bristol has managed to
connect with a global audience via the social media lockdown. Abi Clarke did
not set out to become a global internet star. Abi, who is 24 lives in Henbury.
She began making videos online "to establish a community of like-minded
individuals who would enjoy my standup comedy." "I was doing a lot of
gigs throughout the region of Devon to males older than 50 who weren't as
enthusiastic about my Love Island, Sims and Twilight references so I went to
the internet in hopes of finding other young women who could relate to
me." Abi has since performed at Lakota Gardens as restrictions on lockdowns
have eased but she still posts her videos to Instagram, Twitter and Tik Tok
(where she recently reached more than 500,000 followers) In the process, she
draws inspiration from sources as varied as her job at the cafe, conversations
with a stranger or even the girls' group chat. She also writes everything down
on her smartphone.
